Just a Quick Note....

Well it's been 3 weeks since I poked my head in here. So far I've managed to read through 4 of Katie's books. The Corset Diaries, Men In Kilts, Bird of Paradise, & Improper English. To say the least I'm driving myself crazy, being that I don't have a boyfriend and no way to relieve the frustration except by other means which I won’t do or go into. {Wicked Grin}

Anyway, I have some good news on the stash front. Back in July I bought Needle Guardian by Teresa Wentzler from Patternsonline.com And just today after waiting almost 6 weeks I finally got the supplies from Paw Prints Cross Stitch in the mail. Wahoo!!

I am so itching to start this, I think just this once I'll fall off "The Wagon" and do this small project. I think that's what I need to get me back in the mood to work on my bigger WiPs.

Ta, All...

More S. E. X. Today....

Got off early from work today and went to Hancock Fabrics Store again, just to see if anything was left. They still had open stock DMC linen floss, so I picked some up for 40% off along with some Aunt Martha's hot iron transfers and three spools of DMC silver and gold metallic thread for 30% off.

I had some more down time at work starting today. Don't know for how long. I'm hoping just until next Monday, meantime I'll be able to put some more work in on “To Love and Cherish”.

That's all for today's blog blurb.

WiP Update & S.E.X. !!!!

Technically I should have posted this update last Sunday, but real life ® got in the way. You know how that goes, so it gets posted today. Since I haven’t done the back-stitching on the roses I don’t know if I can technically call the project 50% done, but I’m going to anyway, stitcher’s prerogative. [Ha Ha]

So here it is….

Since I only get to work on this on the weekends, and only for a few hours, progress will be slow and you probably won’t get to see any significant process until the end of the month.

Now for a little S.E.X. talk…..

On Friday I discovered that my local Hancock Fabrics store was closing. I managed to get in right after work to see if there were any stitchery goodies left on the shelves. The section was pretty much rifled through, but I managed to grab 2 rolls of 28ct. white Monaco, a set each of DMC’s color variations & a 25 ( ½ skein ) gift floss set with free chart booklet, and some much needed LoRan project cards. The stitchery section was only 30% off. I figured if I waited until Saturday morning that there’d be nothing left. So 30% was the best deal I was going to get.

Well, that’s all for this Blog Blurb.

A Completed Stash Acquisition....

Finally after many weeks/months of buying on-line between two needlework shops, and two very special Floss Angels from the TWBB - Heather H., Abbie K., . Without whose help my collection would not have been completed.

I present to my fellow bloggers - My complete 142 color set of J & P Coats Cotton Embroidery Floss. One set of floss bobbins and one set of skeins.

I'm very glad I managed to acquire this brand of floss before it totally disappeared. I've read on several web-sites that as of Feb. 1, 2006 it has been discontinued.

Back in the late 60's when I first learned to embroider, around the age of 11, this was the only brand of floss available at the time. It's nice to know I'll be able to hang on to a piece of my nostalgic past.

Stitching All Week - Not!!!!

Exactly one week ago I was told no stockroom work for a week. I had the grand idea that I was going to do nothing but stitch on my projects all week - wrong!

I started out with a single 3x3 post-it note with a household To-Do list and ended up with a To-Do list 3 post-it notes long. Needless to say not much stitching was accomplished.

The only thing I've got to show is the back-stitching on Pegasus and butterflies. I had stitched on the legs and tail in December and finally got around this week to finishing up the back-stitching. This is one of those projects that you pull out every few years to work on, so now it gets put away and I get back to my main focus piece “To Love and Cherish”.

Here's a close up view. (Click on pic.)

And the whole thing so far.

FRIDAY S.E.X.: My end of the week was cheered when the mail brought me more J & P Coats Floss and a Chart Pak – The Wisdom Sampler by Vermillion Stitchery.

I don’t know when I’ll be posting a new progress up-date, but I will post answers to the SBQ Meme and when ever I get stash in the mail. So my blog won’t be totally ignored.

That’s all for now……

Once Upon A Time - Part 3 Done!!!

Well here it is as promised.

And the whole thing so far…..

Even though part 4 is now up on Annick’s site, I’ll be printing out a copy and putting the project on the bottom of the WiP pile. It’s time to concentrate on “To Love and Cherish” until I get it finished hopefully before this coming June for my sister.

S.E.X. NEWS: Got a package in the mail from Nordic Needle yesterday with a whole yard of Zweigart’s 28 count “White” Cashel Linen, 4 pkgs of Anchor gold-plated 26 tapestry needles and 2 sets of blue Handy Magnets. I saw Shay Pendray using these magnets on her show “NeedleArts Studio” and they work great.

The floss set collecting for J & P Coats embroidery thread is still going slow but steady. I’ve run across three colors so far that have been discontinued and I’m hoping to find an OLNS on the east coast that still might have them in their old stock.

Last night before I went to bed I ordered a couple of items from the Shakespeare's Peddler :

10 skeins of “Coastal Fog” Gentle Art’s Sampler Thread Limited Edition cotton floss and a fat quarter of Zweigart’s 28 count “Deep Teal Green” Jazlyn fabric. I have a special project that I’m saving it for, something that I designed myself.

WORK NEWS: The stockroom work load has slowed down to the point where there’s nothing for me to do, so I’ve been told to stay home next week until business picks up. Which means I’ll get to stitch all day for a whole week!! Wahoo!!!

Well that it for today’s blog blurb.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, etc. etc…..

Gosh I can’t believe it been weeks since I’ve gotten the chance to write a line or two. It’s been slow progress on part 3 of “Once Upon a Time”. I’m hoping in another week I’ll be able to upload a picture of part 3. After that I’m afraid it's off to the bottom of the WiP pile, and my sister’s “To Love and Cherish” will be my focal piece once again. I really need to get it finished by this coming June as a first year anniversary present.

I bought myself plenty of Christmas S. E. X. this year.

The Proper Stitch by Darlene O’ Steen ( The Needle’s Prayse)
2 copies of The Best of Teresa Wentzler Fantasy Collection Vol. 2
Teresa Wentzler’s Brilliant Plumage Leaflet

I can’t sing enough praise for Darlene’s book, I’m so glad they reprinted it. It has to be the best book I’ve ever seen for a 1700’s sampler stitch bible. The day it came in the mail I couldn’t put it down without skimming over every page.

Teresa’s charts are always to drool for. I was rather amused to note that in the fantasy collection book the printers managed to flip the pictures of “Mermaid” and “Fantasy Triptych” on the inside as well as the back cover of the book.
I’m glad Leisure Arts has decided to re-publish her earlier leaflets, there’s still quite a few I need for my collection.

I’m still slowly collecting a complete set of J & P Coats Embroidery Floss. At this point I’m roughly half way through the list of floss numbers.

I wish I had more progress stitch wise to talk about, but I’ve been fighting an on-going infection for the last 4 weeks. Basically a cough that just won’t let go of me. Along with the stress at work for another 2 weeks until my supervisor gets back, I’m afraid I’m not going to feel like stitching during the week.

Well that’s it for today’s Blog Blurb.
